No India tour match for Guyana

ST.JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC– The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) yesterday announced the schedule for India’s Caribbean tour, which was thrown into jeopardy after the regional side pulled out of a series on the sub continent nearly two years ago.

20160603championsIndia will play a four-day Test series over a 49 day stint in the region following a couple warm-up matches in St.Kitts, WICB said in a statement.

The Indians will arrive in St.Kitts on July 6 for a two-day warm-up match at Warner Park on July 9 and 10 followed by a three-day fixture at the same venue July 14-16.

The first Test begins July 21 at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium while the second starts July 30 at Sabina Park, Jamaica.

The Indians will then travel to St. Lucia for the third Test, to be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium from August 9.

The final game of the series will be held at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad from August 18.

Head of Operations, Roland Holder, says all the venues scheduled to host games “are ready to host the visiting Indian team and keen contests are expected.”

The series was in doubt after the BCCI had suspended all bilateral ties after West Indies had pulled out of the India tour mid-way in October 2014.

Last month, former BCCI president Shashank Manohar announced that the board had waived the $41.97 million damages imposed by the previous BCCI administration on the WICB for abandoning the 2014 tour.

West Indies are expected to return to India in 2017 to complete the unfinished series.
