The lifeless body of a miner was early yesterday morning discovered with a suspected stab wound in front of a bar at Mahdia Landing and the police are currently pursuing two suspects.
He was identified as Romel Daniels, 25, of Campbelltown, Mahdia. Daniels’s body, bearing a single stab wound to his abdomen, was discovered in front of the Dadagoo Shop located at 111 Miles, Mahdia Landing around 03:40 hrs yesterday.
He was rushed to the Mahdia Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The circumstances surrounding his death were unknown up to press time.
However, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum yesterday informed Stabroek News that based on information received, investigators are currently on the hunt for two suspects.
The police said in a press release that ranks of the Mahdia Police Station responded to a report of a man seen motionless on the roadway of the shop and discovered Daniels, with the stab wound to his abdomen.
According to the police, “Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.”
Efforts to contact the relatives of Daniels proved futile.
His body is currently at the Mahdia Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
