Buxton United and Mahaica Determinators secured convincing opening day wins when the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) leg of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power Under-17 Championship started yesterday
Buxton United dismantled Plaisance by an 8-0 score line. Coby Durant recorded a brace in the 31st and 63rd minutes while Brandon Smith, Ronaldo Fredericks, Joshua Liverpool, Isaiah Anderson, Yamani Armstrong and Tironi Semple scored in the 14th, 19th, 46th, 60th, 69th and 70thminutes respectively.
On the other hand, Mahaica Determinators dismissed Beterverwagting (BV)/Triumph United 4-0. Kevon John recorded a brace in the 10th and 17th minutes while Nicholas Daw and Kareem Pitt scored in the 35th and 76th minutes respectively. And, Yarrowkabra Jaguars and Kuru-Kururu Warriors battled to a 3-3 draw when the East Bank Football (EBFA) leg of the NAMILCO/GFF Flour Power Nat. U17 League continued yesterday at the Grove Community ground.
Shamar Gillis, Lavern Matthews and Jonathan Bailey scored for the Warriors in the sixth, 58th and 64th minutes respectively while Mellon Joseph, Desmond Chester and Michael Williams scored in the 24th, 49th and 69th minutes correspondingly for the Jaguars.
Mocha Champs gained Friendship via a walkover.
Meanwhile, Slingerz FC and Wales FC battled to a 1-1 draw when the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) leg of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power Under-17 Championship continued yesterday.
Hosted at the Den Amstel ground, Shawn Downer gave Wales the early lead as he found the back of the net in the 29th minute. However, Slingerz FC secured a share of the spoils as Rivaldo Smith scored in the 40th minute.
