Dear Editor,
I refer to the KN edition of Friday, June 10, more specifically, the letter headlined ‘The Housing Minister may be out of control’, purportedly by “CH&PA staff”, in which I have been mentioned.
Editor, I find the unwarranted and vicious attacks of which I have been a target since February of this year, totally unacceptable and offensive. The intellectual authors of the seemingly, unending onslaught on my character, seem to not even adhere to the norms of decency and ethical behaviour.
In this most recent letter, though it is headlined ‘The Housing Minister…’, my name/designation is mentioned no less than four times.
The most odious and offensive reference is my inability to account for billions of dollars.
The financial statements for CH&PA have been audited up to December 2014, and the 2015 audit commenced in January of this year. As far as I am aware, nothing was ever mentioned in any of the audit reports that millions of dollars are not accounted for.
I do not wish to engage in a public spat with anyone. My innate sense of decency would not permit me to. Suffice it to say that the events of the last couple of months have been far from desirable. I have been a public officer for well over forty years, and retired in 2008 without a blemish on my character.
It is strange, that suddenly, at the virtual end of my career, I am being painted in the most negative light to advance an agenda, the objectives of which are only known to the intellectual authors.
The time has come for me to break my silence on this most pressing issue of the assassination of my character.
