As the Wolf Warriors Challenge Cup softball tournament begins to heat up top softball player Ramesh Narine showed that his batting prowess had not deserted him by belting a century to help Floodlight Masters whip Wellman by a whopping 135 runs.
Batting first, Floodlights were indebted to Narine, who scored 107, Ricky Deonarain, 34, and Wayne Jones, who made an unbeaten 24 for their score of 231-4 from their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Wellman crashed to 96 all out in 16 overs as Ramchand Ragbeer 3-12, Anil Beharry 2-8 and Imtiaz Mohamed 2-10, the principal wicket takers.
In another match of the competition, H.S Masters defeated Tropical Springs by three wickets.
Tropical Springs, batting first, scored 109 all out with J. Sankar, 22, the top scorer.
M. Ifill 4-13 and Ricky Persaud 2-16, were the main wicket takers for H. S Masters who, in reply, reached 110-8 in 17.3 overs with A. Roopnarine,
25, the top scorer.
J. Ramdeen 3-9, M. Doodnauth 2-14 and R. Khan 2-34 were amongst the wickets.
One of the favourite teams Regal Masters proved superior to Superior Woods winning by 45 runs.
Batting first, Regal Masters scored 143-9 off their allotted 20 overs with Fazleem Mohamed, 48, M. Hardyal, 36, the top scorers.
Bowling for Superior Woods, Roy Persaud bagged 5-18 and Mark Fung supported with 4-25.
Superior Woods in reply, were dismissed for 98 in 17.5 overs with P. Persaud 29, the top scorer.
F. Mohamed 2-4 and R. Harper 2-27 were the main wicket takers.
In other matches, Fisherman Masters defeated Enterprise Legends by five wickets. Batting first, Enterprise reached 116-9 off their allotted 20 overs with M. Mangal making the top score of 50.
S. Seeraj 2-16, W. Joseph 2-21, J. Persaud 2-22 were the main wicket takers.
Fisherman Masters in reply reached 118-6 off a mere 7.1 overs with J. Persaud 31, B. Heralall 26 not out and S. Dyal 24, the principal scorers.
J. Mukesh 4-17 and R. Roopdeo 2-26, were the wicket takers for Enterprise Legends.
Wolf Warriors Masters then defeated Savage Masters by 17 runs. Wolf Warriors Masters 129-8 off their allotted 20 overs with S. Navin 38 and L. Mc Koy 28, the top scorers.
Savage Masters in reply scored 112 all out with J Ragunandan capturing 3-12.
In the final match of the round Parika Defenders defeated Wolf Warriors Masters. No scores are available for their game.
