Relatives of Orville Valentine, the Sentinel Security guard who was run over by a Hilux pickup on June 6 have moved him to a private hospital after his condition worsened.
Valentine is now a patient at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was run over by a Toyota Hilux jeep, PRR 404, after it was hit by a Toyota Runx, PMM 2216, at the intersection of Hunter Street and Independence Boulevard, Albouystown two Mondays ago.
As a result of the accident, Valentine sustained injuries to his left foot, left arm and ribs. His left foot is in a cast while his left arm is in a sling. He was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital but his sister Cloreen yesterday said that they had to transfer him after his condition worsened.
While at the GPH, Valentine was in the men’s surgical ward but was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) upon arrival at the private hospital. Cloreen said her brother sustained injuries to his ribs but it was only after being transferred to the private hospital that surgery was done. She added that surgery was also supposed to be done on the injured foot but doctors have been unable to proceed because his heart rate was increasing.
According to her, the doctors stated that the surgery will be conducted as soon as Valentine’s heart rate stabilises. Since his arrival at the private institution, Cloreen said her brother has been making steady improvements although he is still not in the best condition.
The family maintains that since the incident occurred, they are yet to hear from the police as it relates to the progress of the case. Additionally, the family stated that the driver of the Toyota Runx is yet to come forward and render any form of assistance.
