Facing a broiling controversy here over plans for parking meters, Mayor of Georgetown, Patricia Chase-Green yesterday met with municipal officials in Panama.
Chase-Green who had been in Mexico to hammer out details for a parking meters project here was accompanied to the Panama meetings by Town Clerk, Royston King, and Councillors, Oscar Clarke, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Junior Garrett, member of the Finance Committee.
A release last night from King said that the team met with the Mayor of Panama City Beach, Mike Thomas and other officials of the Municipio De Panama, at the Municipio De Panama, in Panama.
The release said that the teams exchanged greetings and discussed a number of issues including the environment, economics, cultures, and the twinning of the cities of Panama City and Georgetown. The release said that the Mayors agreed on the twinning of the two cities. Both sides will work out the modalities for specific areas of cooperation between the two municipalities.
The environment, climate change and global warming have been identified as top priorities for the municipalities, the release added.
