Vege Boys claimed their first win in the Stag Beer sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) League, downing Wales FC 3-2 yesterday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.
Shamar Hetemyer, Cordell Walcott and Carlos Caesar scored for the Vergenoegen based unit in the 10th, 31st and 75th minute respectively. Recording a double in the loss was Lawrence Phillips in the 46th and 51st minute.
With the result, Vege Boyz moved from the cellar to ninth spot on three points while Wales dropped to 10th position, remaining on two points.
Meanwhile, Young Achievers downed Golden Warriors 2-1. Tiefel Adams and Stephon Jupiter scored in third and 19th minute for the winner while Jermin Isaiah pulled one back in the 62nd minute.
Young Achievers now occupy the fifth spot with six points while Golden Warriors dropped to seventh place, remaining on three points.
All matches in the event will be played at Den Amstel Community Centre ground. Prize monies for the top four finishers will be announced shortly by the association.
