UK based Claire Fraser-Green took her fourth successive time trial and road race title to highlight Saturday’s National Cycling Championships staged at Mahaicony.
In the curtain raiser for the flagship event of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF), Fraser-Green completed the 5.3-mile time trial in 13 minutes and 0.2 seconds.
Christeen Mattheson and Ronella Samuels placed second and third respectively in both the time trial and the road race.
In the male side of things, Christopher Cornelius (Junior), Zamal Khan (Juveniles), Junior Niles (Veteran’s U-45) and Raymond Newton (Veteran’s O-45) emerged winners in the road race championships.
The championships will continue this weekend with the Time Trial for the Juveniles, Masters, Junior and Elite riders on Saturday at the same venue, while the Road Race for the Elite cyclists will be held on Sunday around the outer circuit of the National Park.
