A 33-year-old man was yesterday remanded to prison after denying a charge that he had over four pounds of marijuana in his shop at Kwakwani.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates Court, Orin Hartman pleaded not guilty to a charge which stated that on June 17, he had 2220 grammes of cannabis. It is alleged that the defendant, a shop owner and logger, was found with the narcotics at Kwakwani Park, Berbice.
According to the police, they found the narcotics at the defendant’s premises and not in his possession.
The Chief Magistrate remanded Hartman to prison and adjourned the matter to July 15 when it will be heard at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court.
