The body of Barbara Hunte who went missing on Saturday after the boat she was in capsized in the Puruni River, Region 7, was recovered by a search party on Monday afternoon.
Commander of ‘F’ Division, Ravendradat Budhram, confirmed that Hunte’s body was pulled out by Guyana Police Force ranks after days of searching. Stabroek News understands that the body was located at around 4pm on Monday. Budhram said the Force is trying to make contact with the woman’s relatives.
According to reports, Hunte, 48, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, was travelling to an interior location to begin her new job as a cook at a mining camp when the mishap occurred. It was her first trip to the interior.
