Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin, during a walk-about in the Stabroek Market on Monday met with stallholders to hear the concerns of businesses operating within the market.
A release from the Ministry of Business yesterday said that some of the problems identified by stallholders included:
- Frequent flooding during high-tides
- Poor sanitation and wash room facilities
- Poor maintenance of the market and its surroundings
– Poor security within and around the market
- Poor state of the wharf area.
According to Gaskin, “walkabouts such as these provide an opportunity for face-to-face contact with business owners and operators at the site of their businesses so as to get a direct feel of how the various problems actually impact on their livelihoods.”
