Former Marketing and Distribution Incorporated salesman Rayon Nurse, who was charged in 2014 with embezzling over $8M from three of the company’s customers, was yesterday found guilty of the offence.
Nurse, 31, was charged in July 2014 with embezzling two separate sums of $2M cash as well as $4.7M from three customers. He was also charged with uttering information surrounding the disappearance of the money to Constable Kite on July 3rd, 2014, knowing it was false.
Nurse had claimed that he was robbed of the money at gunpoint by two men. He was released on $700,000 bail.
Yesterday, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Fabayo Azore found Nurse guilty of all charges. Attorney Patrice Henry, who entered an appearance for Nurse, requested that sentencing be delayed until the provision of a probation report. The matter has been adjourned to July 12.
