Dear Editor,
Having read in the newspapers and heard on the news the various suggestions about having a working coalition which will ensure Guyana progresses with the various race groups in unity, this idea struck me.
Being a lawyer for fifty years and practising in Guyana for nearly 45 years, I recognize the fact that lawyers may disagree with each other in court arguing harshly and aggressively, but they do not hate each other. After an issue in court between lawyers they would continue to chat and be polite to each other. This attitude is what helps to keep the legal profession in Guyana and elsewhere in the world together.
My suggestion is that politicians and those who are involved in community organizations ought to examine closely what I am saying and see if there is any merit in it. If there is any merit then I urge that the attitude of lawyers to colleagues ought to be adopted by politicians and social workers so that Guyana may move on to progress with respect and dignity.
Yours faithfully,
Jonas MF Coddett
