GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – St Lucia Zouks have drafted in Black Caps all-rounder Grant Elliott as a replacement for South African Eddie Leie, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a finger injury.
Elliott is an experienced campaigner who has played 92 Twenty20s, scoring just over 1500 runs and taken 65 wickets with his medium pace.
He was a member of the New Zealand squad which played unbeaten to reach the semi-final of the Twenty20 World Cup in India last April.
The 37-year-old Elliott played the last of his five Tests seven years ago and has since morphed into a limited overs specialist. He averages 34 from 83 One-Day Internationals with two hundreds and has taken 39 wickets.
He will link up with fellow overseas players, Australians Shane Watson and Michael Hussey and South Africans David Miller and Morne Morkel.
Zouks, who will be captained by West Indies T20 skipper Darren Sammy, will raise the curtain on the new CPL season when they clash with reigning champions Trinbago Knight Riders next Wednesday in Port of Spain.
