Kwakwani Secondary sealed their berth to the next round in the Digicel Schools Football Championship, defeating Linden Technical Institute by a 2-0 score line Saturday at the Kwakwani Community Centre Ground.
Cassius Campbell opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Keith Campbell (no relation) sealed the result with a 75th minute conversion.
The tournament, which will be played in the traditional knockout format, will be staged in every region and will conclude July 31st at the National Stadium, Providence.
Christianburg/Wismar Secondary has a stranglehold on the event. They are the current defending champions and a four-time winner of the event.
The other winning team of the most prestigious event in the country was Georgetown Technical Institute who won the inaugural event.
The winning team is scheduled to receive $1,000,000 toward funding a school project and the championship trophy while the second-placed unit will receive $700,000 and the runners-up accolade.
The third and fourth-placed units will walk away $400,000 and $350,000 and the corresponding trophy. Similarly, $100,000 will be awarded to achieve zone winner.
