The Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association will be sending two teams to New York to take part in the New York Softball Cricket League International softball tournament to be held this weekend (July 1-3).
The two teams are Floodlights and Floodlights Legend and they will take part in the Masters category, also known as the Legends Cup.
Floodlight won the Legends Cup in July last year when they defeated another local team Regal Masters in a thrilling final played at Roy Wilkinson Park, Queens, New York.
New York Mercenaries were the champions in the Open Category also known as the Independence Cup.
Ricky Deonarain will skipper defending champions Floodlights, while Ramo Malone will be his deputy. Lalta Gainda will skipper Floodlights Legends with Lakhram Singh as the vice-captain. The teams are:- Floodlights: Ricky Deonarain- Captain, Ramo Malone V/Captain Uniss Yusuf, Jagdish Persaud, Lloyd Rooplall, Wayne Jones, Clive Canterbury, Pooran Singh, Sydney Jackman jnr., Asif Ahmad, Ravi Lutchman, Joe Lutchman, Kash Lutchman, Goordial Mattai and Vejai Seonarine.
Floodlights Legends: Lalta Gainda Captain, Lakhram Singh V/Captain, Jailall Deodass, Dharam Persaud, Surendra Nauth, Rahaman Khan, Ago Gopaul, Rajendra Persaud, Anil Beharry, Imtiaz Mohamed, Motielall Chumundat, Arjune Badal, Mohan Sukhu, Teekchand Madhu, Uniss Baksh, and Roshan Kamrudeen.
