At eight days out, it is almost Showtime for the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation’s flagship event, the Senior National Championships.
Bodybuilders and physique athletes are on the stretch run, dialing in their bodies through strict diets and workout regimens to present an award winning package come July 10 at the National Cultural Centre.
The fitness community, local gyms, barbershops and even salons have been buzzing with anticipation of the much hyped Mr. Guyana event. Not only will the nation’s best physiques turn the stage into their battleground, but for the second time, the flourishing Men’s Physique segment will be contested on the Senior stage.
Aesthetics, symmetry, muscularity, confidence and of course brightly coloured boardshorts will be present.
Patrons at the venue can look forward to local hunks posing and flexing their V tapered physiques in a showdown of the ‘battle of the board shorts’.
The rules of the division state that the judges are looking for “fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition.” Extreme muscularity is to be marked down.
The keys to victory are simple aesthetics: symmetry, presentation, conditioning without being too vascular, and shredded muscles. Whoever brings it best will win.
Last year’s winner, Emmerson Campbell along with Yannick Grimes, Fitness Paradise’s Caerus Cipriani and Tej Mohall Fitness Centre’s Chaitram Nagessar are some of the known competitors vying for the title of the Senior Men’s Physique champion and a place on the CAC team.

package’.
On the highly anticipated night, musclemen and women will compete for gift certificate, trophies and supplement hampers.

To add some international flavour and excitement to the event, the federation has recruited Barbados based, Domini Alleyne (Ms. Barbados Bikini Fitness 2014) and Bajan muscleman, Stevenson Belle to guest pose.
The championships starts at 19:00hrs and admission is listed at $1500.
