A pensioner is now a remanded to prisoner after a city court heard yesterday that he severely chopped another man.
Raymond Frederick, 77, was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a Georgetown court, where it was heard that on June 25, at Kwakwani Park, Upper Berbice, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kellon Vandenberg.
Frederick was not allowed enter a plea to the indictable charge.
The prosecution objected to bail based on the gravity of the offence and the fact that Vandenberg remains hospitalised after being badly chopped.
Chief Magistrate McLennan subsequently remanded the defendant and adjourned the matter to July 15, when it is to be heard at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court.
