The Golden Jaguars have been officially drawn with Jamaica and Suriname in the third round of the Scotiabank Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Caribbean Cup qualifiers.
Guyana will face off with Jamaica on October 5th at a venue to be announced before locking horns with their neighbouring rivals three days later at the National Stadium in Providence.
According to a release from the GFF, “In Round Two of the tournament, Guyana was placed as first runner-up in Group Three after being defeated by Curacao 5 – 2 but triumphing against the United States Virgin Islands 7 – 0 in Curacao and St. Thomas, USVI respectively”.
The release further said that other matches in the section include Haiti against French Guiana at the Stade Sylvio Stadium in Haiti, Curacao versus Antigua and Barbuda at Ergilio Hato Stadium in Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago against Dominican Republic at a venue to be announced.
“Fifth Place playoff will be held from November 7 – 15 and the Final Round in May 2017. The top three of this tournament will qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup” it concluded.
