Banks DIH Limited is partnering with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in support of the 12th Annual CARICOM 10Km athletic Road Race slated for Sunday.
The local beverage company made a donated of its branded Rainforest Water for the event which will attract a large field of athletes from Guyana and across the Caribbean region.
The presentation was made during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park where Dr. Douglas Slater, Assistant Secretary General of Human and Social Development of CARICOM Secretariat received the donation from Rain Forest Water Brand Manager Clive Pellew.
Also present at the ceremony was Sherwin Toyne- Stephenson (Programme Manager, Crime and Security, of the CARICOM Secretariat.
The race will run under the theme “Promoting Peaceful and Healthy Societies” for the prosperity of our Region” and will coincide with the thirty-Seventh Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) which will be held in Georgetown, from July 4-6.
The race will be organised and implemented in collaboration with the Government of Guyana and the Ministry of Education – Department of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Athletic Association of Guyana.
There is also a planned 5km event for locally based junior athletes and will also include a special category for athletes with disabilities.
