Continental Agencies Ltd on Saturday donated a quantity of its Ashoka food items in aid of a recognition day for over one hundred senior citizens associated with the Agricola Caregivers Great Movement Association, a release from the company said.
This association is a non-governmental organisation whose objectives are focused on the wellbeing of persons along a stretch of the East Bank of Demerara (Peter’s Hall, Agricola, Houston, etc.) who are vulnerable to the negative aspects of society. The release said that the organisation puts special emphasis on the care of the elderly and aiding in the guidance of the youths of these communities.
Ashoka is a premium brand out of India for which Continental Agencies Ltd. is the sole distributor of these products in Guyana. Apart from the ready-to-eat pouches and cans, the Ashoka line of products comprises curries, pickles, pickles in olive oil, chutneys, ginger and garlic pastes, mango pulps, and wet masala in pouches.
According to the Marketing and Sales Manager of Continental Agencies Ltd, Avalon Jagnandan, Continental sees the donation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility especially as it relates to the elderly in society. He wished Sister Ingrid Cadle, President of the Agricola Caregivers Great Movement Association along with its members, great success at its Annual Seniors’ Recognition Day slated for today.
