Deputy Mayor Sherod Duncan yesterday toured his constituency South Ruimveldt Park/ Ruimveldt Industrial Estate and evaluated issues affecting residents. He also visited project sites where infrastructural works are being under taken by the South Ruimveldt Gardens Phase 2 Community and Policing Group chaired by Bruce Haynes.
According to Duncan, during the visit he observed that the issues facing the communities are drainage, need for better roads and security.
He explained that he has already sent an email to Mayor Patricia Chase-Green highlighting the issues the community is plagued with. He added he would make representation to raise the concerns at the next statutory meeting.
Asked why the city had not received any proposal from him to develop his constituency, Duncan explained that he has been working with organisations to foster development within his constituency. “Before the Jubilee [celebration] the South Ruimveldt Gardens Phase 2 Community and Policing Group chaired by Bruce Haynes submitted two proposals to City Hall for approval. This group is in the constituency, I work with them. The work we do is for the community. And we’re waiting for approval,” Duncan explained.
Commenting on the projects he visited in Orealla Avenue and Tukeit Drive, Duncan said he is impressed that the South Ruimveldt Gardens Phase 2 Community Development Association playfield projects are moving apace. “These projects have tremendous benefits for the entire Constituency 14 South Ruimveldt/Ruimveldt Industrial Estate,” the Deputy Mayor stated.
