A Plaisance woman was yesterday placed on bail after denying that she falsified her passport application.
It is alleged that on January 25, 2011, Carlotta Meusa, 35, of 75 Prince William Street, Plaisance, falsely declared her date of birth as October 27, 1993, in her application to procure a passport from the Central Immigration and Passport Office in Georgetown.
Meusa’s attorney, Dexter Todd, made an application for reasonable bail if she was not released on her own recognisance. Todd further stated that his client had no reason to fail to appear in court for the purpose of clearing her name.
Bail was set at $50,000 by Magistrate Leron Daly, who adjourned the matter until July 19 for statements.
