Two men were yesterday charged with the 2012 murder of Mahaica trucker driver Jadesh Dass, who had been found dead on a roadway with gunshot wounds to his head.
The court of Magistrate Alicia George heard that on April 17, 2012, at Mahaica, Nankumar Ganesh and Amarnauth Bhopaul murdered Dass, 32, of Chelsea Park, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
The men were not required to plead to the charge when it was read to them at Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.
Ganesh and Bhopaul were subsequently remanded to prison by the magistrate, who adjourned the matter until July 29, when it is to be heard at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
Dass’ body was found lying a short distance away from his truck at New Road, Mosquito Hall, East Coast Demerara, with what was thought to be a gash in his head. A post-mortem examination later revealed that he suffered two gunshot wounds at close range to the right side of his temple and his forehead.
