The Guyana Sugar Corporation has advertised for an intermediary to assist it with the sale of land to prospective buyers,
The beleaguered and debt-ridden sugar corporation has resorted to land sales in the past to raise cash for its operations and to pay off bank loans.
It remains in dire financial condition and has embarked on a cost-cutting exercise.
In an advertisement in yesterday’s Guyana Chronicle, GuySuCo said it is the largest single occupier of land on the coast holding upwards of 100,000 acres. It added that much of the land which it controls are “prime land”.
It noted that it has schedules in support of freehold and leasehold land in its possession and has identified parts to sell “with a view to accruing appropriate revenue to its coffers”.
It said it is therefore seeking a suitably qualified candidate to “serve as a point of reference between its management and prospective buyers”.
