(Barbados Nation) The dust has settled on the fight for Banks Breweries and now the substantial legal costs in the bidding war falls to Banks Holdings and SLU Beverages.
The Court of Appeal on Friday overturned a decision by Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson who, sitting as a high court judge, ended his original trading freeze on BHL shares last November.
The initial application for the injunction filed by ANSA McAL was sparked by the battle for control of the brewery by ANSA McAL and Brazilian beer giant AmBev through its subsidiary SLU Beverages.
After the Chief Justice lifted the trading ban AmBev went ahead and acquired the brewery while a battery of high-powered lawyers from Barbados and Trinidad were appealing the discharging of the injunction.
