Shot Pouderoyen businessman slowly recuperating

Prakash Seegobin, the businessman who was shot in his home by bandits on Monday night, remains hospitalised.

Seegobin, 51, was shot in his left thigh during the attack by the two robbers who invaded his Lot 3 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Demerara home.

According to the man’s son, Ravi (only name given), his father has undergone surgery to have the warhead removed.

When he spoke to Stabroek News yesterday afternoon, he said his father is slowly recuperating and is likely to be discharged from the West Demerara Regional Hospital soon.

The two bandits, who were masked, stole a quantity of cash, jewellery and electronics from Seegobin and his family.

Stabroek News understands that the men gained entry by entering through the Beer Garden that Seegobin operates. Ravi said he and two friends were playing pool in the entrance when the men entered, put on their masks and then ordered them into the house.

The bandit’s gun-butted Seegobin and his daughter during their demand for the valuables.  The men ransacked the home and made off with $500,000 in cash, as well as jewellery a laptop and an iPad tablet.

A man was arrested moments after the robbery. A police source said that the man was seen running through Samaroo Dam and when he was stopped and questioned by police, his unsatisfactory answers led ranks to take him to the La Grange Police Station for questioning.
