The four persons who were arrested during a raid by police last Thursday at Alpha International Hotel, Ogle, East Coast Demerara, during which one person died, have been released but investigations are continuing into the matter.
This is according to a reliable source. However, efforts to glean the circumstances under which they were released proved futile.
During the incident, Nigel Joseph, 51, of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was fatally shot when lawmen sought to intercept a large scale drug operation at the hotel.
Reports had revealed that as the officers attempted to arrest the men, an exchange of gunfire ensued and Joseph was shot.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
A large quantity of cocaine was recovered.
The matter is being investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).
