Walter Willis was not just an engineer – he was a Nation builder. Like Bunny Fernandes before him he has left us early because he never shied away from the impossible-to-do deadline jobs that kept him on the road from the crack of dawn to the last lights-out.
That Guyana actually made the cut to host World Cup Cricket in 2007 was largely due to the heroic efforts of Walter.
His family, whom he adored, must never let the recent misrepresentations by others not worthy to wear his trademark boots and hat, cloud the image of what a great Guyanese he was.
