ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC- Uncapped fast bowler Miguel Cummins has another shot at making his Test debut after he was called up as replacement for Jerome Taylor in the 13-member squad for the upcoming first Test match against India.
A statement from the WICB yesterday announced that the selection panel named Cummins to take the place of Taylor who called time on his Test playing career.
A 12-member squad, captained by Jason Holder, was released on Monday.
Last December, the Barbadian pacer was called up as a replacement for the injured Shannon Gabriel for remaining Test matches against Australia but did not play.
However earlier this year, he played for a WICB Board XI versus the Australian tourists in Antigua, claiming the wicket of Chris Rogers on the way to figures of 14-3-42-1.
He made his international debut in 2014 when he played in a one-day international against Ireland, returning figures of 1-42.
Cummins, 25, has played 41 first-class matches, with 116 wickets (average 22.56).
The first Test is scheduled for the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua, and starts July 21. First ball daily is 10am (9am Jamaica Time)
