A mechanic was yesterday brought before a city court on charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.
Shawn Blyden, of 333 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to face the charge.
The charge stated that on June 19, at Georgetown, Blyden unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jamal Lewis with the intent to commit murder.
Given that the charge is an indictable one, he was not required to plead.
Blyden, 22, was read two other charges that alleged that on the same day and at the same location, while in the company of others and being armed with a gun, he robbed Tabitha Persaud of a phone, valued $80,000. He is also accused of robbing Persaud of $250,000, which was the property of another.
A not guilty plea was entered by Blyden for both charges.
The prosecution objected to bail based on the gravity of the charges and the fact that Lewis remains hospitalised.
Blyden was denied bail and the matter was subsequently adjourned to July 27, when it will be called before the Chief Magistrate.
