Unbeaten Bahamas sealed their berth to the final of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Girls u16 Championship, crushing Antigua and Barbuda 55-26 yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana.
Kendise Smith was the main threat for the Bahamians with 17 points while Tanea Bowleg contributed 15 points. For the losing team, Britnay Gore battled to 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bahamas will now oppose Suriname in the final today at the same venue after the Dutch nation edged the British Virgin Islands (BVI) by a 49-41 score line.
Anita Tolud top scored for the winner with 24 points while Cyaram Kensmil chipped in with 12 points. On the other side, Shauniqua Fahie netted 14 points alongside 18 rebounds while Keithrece Smith assisted with 14 points.
Due to their respective defeats, Antigua and Barbuda and BVI will face-off in the third place playoff today. Meanwhile, Barbados dismissed Trinidad and Tobago by a 68-40 margin to finish in the fifth position.
Tower Lorde recorded a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds for the winner. For Trinidad and Tobago, Megan Rampersad led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds.
