Conquerors Soccer Summer Programme gets underway today

With a reputation of helping in the development of young, talented footballers, Tucville giants Fruta Conquerors will continue its long standing objective of youth development when its stages the ninth Soccer Summer Programme.

The event, which will be held entirely at the Tucville Community ground, will commence today and end August 5th, catering for girls and boys ages 7-17.

According to a release from the club, “Fruta Conquerors Football Club continues its rich tradition of having the children from our community and beyond kept actively engaged during the closure of school for the summer vacations.

“Last year the camp witness a daily average of 52 children attending for over a three-week period where they were taught life skills as well as the game of soccer. This year we plan to place much more of our focus on the development of our girls, as we strive to improve their participation in the sport of soccer.”

According to the release, the camp will provide avenues for the participants to develop friendships and strengthen bonds in a safe environment.

“We have also included in this year’s camp a session for parents where they would be taught by a qualified lecturer and counselor the art of parenting and dealing with delinquent children.

“It thus therefore gives us great pleasure as a club to continue this rich tradition to our young players and we do look forward to very rewarding three weeks of fun and great team work,” the release stated.

To date, support for the event has been received from the Ministry of Education through its Department of Culture and Youth and the Director of Sports, Christopher Jones.

The club has also written to several companies for assistance to aid in making the event better than last year’s edition. Some of the companies written to include Scotia Bank and Digicel, stated the release.
