The Wiltshire siblings, Larissa and Shomari, Taylor Fernandes and Kirsten Gomes will battle for individual gold when the singles of the annual Caribbean junior squash championships in the Cayman Islands takes place today.
In the semi-finals of the boys U13 division played last evening top seed Shomari Wiltshire easily won his semifinal match against Matthew Elliott of Bermuda 11/2, 11/2, 11/4 while sister Larissa defeated Thandi Mayers 11/4, 11/5, 11/3 in the semi-final of the girls U19 division.
Larissa Wiltshire, the number-two seed, will be up against fellow Guyanese and the division’s number one seed Taylor Fernandes in the final after Fernandes defeated Jamaica’s Alyssa Mullings 3-1, winning 14/12, 11/6, 8/11, 11-9.
Gomes is through to the final of the girls U13 division after getting past fellow Guyanese and the number two seed Abosaide Cadogan 3-1. Gomes won 11/7, 9/11, 11/9, 11/6.
Guyana’s Mohryan Baksh lost his boys U11 semi-final match against Aiden Parris of Barbados at 3, 4 and 5, while Daniel Islam too lost his boysU15 semi-final clash against Kai Bentick at 6, 7 and 4.
Rithew Saywack reached the semi-finals of the U17 boys division before losing 1/11, 11/13 and 5/11 to Shemaine Griffith of Barbados while Benjamin Mekdeci too lost in the semi-finals bowing out to Jason Doyle 11/13, 8/11 and 9/11 in the U19 division.
Madison Fernandes too reached the semi-finals of the girls U13 category before losing to Sumairaa Suleman of Barbados 6/11, 3/11 and 4/11.
