Trinidad and Tobago walked away with the Women’s West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional limited overs title after yesterday’s final against Barbados at Everest, subsequently ended in no-result.
Trinidad, who played well during the rain-affected competition hosted
by Guyana, took home the trophy after overnight showers coupled by the recent inclement weather, rendered the Everest Ground unplayable, thus resulting in the no-result outcome.
The tournament was affected by rain, turning venues such as Everest, Enmore and Enterprise waterlogged venues but the officials were hopeful of play yesterday but after several inspections the match was called off a few minutes to 16:00hrs as teams waited eagerly before in hopes of some competition. By virtue of the tournament conditions, Trinidad, who entered the final with 12 points, gained an extra two for the no-result of the match which took their total to 14 while their opponents Barbados, on 11, received two points taking their total to 13.
The T&T team was led by Merissa Aguilleira.
