Cat Massiah trampled the opposition and galloped away with the spoils in Sunday’s feature G and Lower event of the Guyana Association of Women Police (GAWP) horse race meet.
The champion steed, with jockey Paul Delph in the stirrups, shrugged off the prevailing inclement weather at the Bush Lot Turf Club (BLTC) to emerge winner of the eight-furlong event.
The win for the thoroughbred and the Ghansham Singh Stables was worth $300,000 and the coveted Banks DIH Limited trophy.
Cat Massiah won with about eight lengths ahead of Settling Star and Glamour Queen.
Red Jet (K class), Royal Jet (Two-year old animals) Sea Bird (L and lower) and Dirt Man (L class) were also in the winner’s row. Colin Ross rode home with the top jockey award.
