A Vryheid’s Lust man was yesterday placed on $100,000 bail after he denied making a false declaration on an immigration form at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
Clairmont Reid, 37, of 197 South Vryheid’s Lust, was charged with knowingly making an untrue declaration on a Customs Declaration form, in which he indicated that he did not have US$10,000 or more to declare, when in fact he was in possession of TT$139,135, which is equivalent to US$20,797.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones had no objections to bail but asked that it be a substantial amount. Reid’s bail was subsequently set at $100,000 and the matter was adjourned until September 8.
