Another policeman testified yesterday when the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Anand Narine and Darrol Compton, who are charged with the six-year-old murder of Babita Sarjou, continued.
During the PI, which is being presided over by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a George-town court, Lance Cor-poral Jermaine Laundry, attached to the Major Crimes Unit, was led through his evidence by prosecutor Neville Jeffers.
He was unable to complete his testimony, which was suspended until the next hearing, which is fixed for July 27.
The suspected skeletal remains of Sarjou were unearthed in May at the residence of Narine, her estranged husband, in Campbellville.
On the eve of Diwali, November 4, 2010, Sarjou had left her Timehri home, having informed her family that after work she was going to view the annual motorcade with Narine and their four-year-old son. She had promised she would be back home at around 9 that night. She was never seen or heard from again.
Narine was faced with intense scrutiny over her disappearance as there was a history of domestic violence in the relationship.
The man was also charged with the offence of exposing pictures of Sarjou to the public with a view to corrupt public morals after semi-nude photographs of the woman were displayed around her place of employment in 2010.
