Guyana’s girls junior squash team earned a final’s berth against Barbados after defeating Bermuda 4-1 yesterday at the Caribbean squash championships in the Cayman Islands.
Rebecca Low lost the first match to Charlotte Toogood 11-3, 9-11, 11-8, 7-11 and 7-11, but the undefeated Guyanese clinched their berth in the final by sweeping the remaining matchups.
In the second fixture, Abosaide Cadogan defeated Ariana Lowther 11-4, 11-4 and 11-4 to level the score at 1-1 before Taylor Fernandes bested Tiye Williams 11-1, 11-2 and 11-2 to hand Guyana a 2-1 lead.
Makeda Harding sealed the win for Guyana, crushing Abigail Brewer 11-5, 11-3 and 12-10 before Larissa Wiltshire downed Madeleine Rose 11-1, 11-1 and 11-1 in the final fixture. The final will be held today at the same venue.
