A police officer was unconscious and being readied for surgery last evening after he was accidentally run over by a car on Mandela Avenue.
Constable Linden Davis, 25, of Albouystown, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after he fell from his motorbike and was then run over.
Stabroek News was told by witnesses that the accident occurred around 4.30 pm. One eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said that Davis was by the traffic light at the junction of Hunter Street and Avenue of the Republic when he rode into a pothole, which snagged the wheel of his motorcycle. As a result, Davis fell off his bike and into coming traffic, where a driver accidentally ran over him.
Davis was quickly rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens.
When Stabroek news arrived at the Hospital, the officer was said to be in an unconscious state but he was being prepped for surgery. At that time, family members had not yet arrived.
