The body of an unidentified man was pulled out from a trench at Grant Street, Paradise, East Coast Demerara yesterday morning.
Stabroek News understands that the discovery was made around 11am by residents after they spotted the man’s body floating in the trench.
It bore no visible marks of violence.
A bottle was found in one of the dead man’s pants pockets but it was unclear whether anything was in it.
The police were alerted about the discovery and the body was removed after investigations were conducted.
Residents were reluctant to comment on the matter but related that the man was not known to the community.
The body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour but up to late yesterday afternoon no one turned up to claim the remains.
