Dear Editor,
I bring to the general public’s notice the bad drainage system in the residential areas of Belladrum, Region Five. For too long we have been complaining about severe flooding but nothing is being done.
The old train station has an MMA structure which has been badly eroded by water and at the same intersection the dam which isolates the rice field water from the residential area is damaged too.
Our secondary drainage in the area is all packed with weeds and grass; this is also creating a blockage in the drainage system.
Some of the dams need to be raised along with tubes placed with self-acting doors, to prevent water entering the residential area through the secondary trenches.
We the people in Belladrum continue to face economic pressure and an unfriendly environment.
Gardens and poultry are all destroyed whenever a large volume of water remains on the land.
I do hope someone in government and the Region takes note and tries to bring relief to the community.
Yours faithfully,
Julian David
