Fifteen-year-old Yannick Schultz, who was struck down on Saturday afternoon last along the Number Three Public Road, West Coast Berbice is being considered brain dead.
Stabroek News was informed by the young boy’s father, Clairmont Schultz, that his son’s brain was not responding to tests that are being done and he was subsequently pronounced brain dead by the doctor.
He further stated that a total of three tests have been completed on his son’s brain and they have so far received two results from those tests. According to Schultz they are expected to receive the final result from the third test done sometime today.
When asked if he was aware of charges being filed against the person who hit his son he said that he heard the individual was in the lockups but was released on station bail.
As far as he is aware no charges have been filed.
Yannick Schultz, a student of the Fort Wellington Secondary School, was reportedly cycling along the Number Three Public Road, West Coast Berbice, when a car struck him.
He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital, before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
