Fifteen-year-old Yannick Schultz, who was declared brain dead after being struck down last Saturday afternoon along the Number Three Village, West Coast Berbice Public Road, succumbed on Thursday afternoon.
Clairmont Schultz confirmed that his son passed away around 2pm at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The senior Schultz had told Stabroek News earlier in the week that his son was not responding to tests that were being conducted and he was subsequently pronounced brain dead by the doctor.
Schultz, a student of the Fort Wellington Secondary School, was reportedly cycling along the Number Three Public Road when a car struck him.
He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital, before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Contacted Traffic Chief Deon Moore said that the driver of the vehicle will be rearrested to assist in further investigations.
