A murder charge now looms for Demico cook Alexis Turpin and her lover Stephon Barlow, following the death of Sherwin Johnson, the father of her child.
Turpin, 25, and Barlow, 23, were initially charged with attempted murder. However, they returned to court on Thursday and Wednesday last respectively for reports and heard from Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones that a charge of murder can be brought against them soon. According to Jones, the virtual complainant succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The prosecutor also stated that the files have been sent back to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further advice on the matter in light of the death of Johnson.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan further adjourned the matter to August 22 for a follow-up report and placed the duo back on remand.
It was alleged that, on July 2, at Georgetown, Barlow and Turpin, armed with a crowbar, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Johnson.
