CrossFit is the ultimate test of fitness and athleticism.
It requires speed, coordination, aerobic and muscular endurance, experience with Olympic lifts, raw strength, skill, and a healthy serving of guts, determination and power.
All the above will be required on August 6 in West Moorings, Trinidad when an army of Guyanese athletes will compete at the first ever CrossFit competition in the Twin Island Republic.
The sum of eight local gladiators will push their bodies to the limit for the right to be called the Caribbean’s fittest male and female in the largest CrossFit competition in the Region to date.
Guyana’s contingent of athletes include: Dillon Mahadeo, Dr. Christian McRae, Ian Rogers, Jamie McDonald, Carlos Mendonca and Angelina DeAbreu from CrossFit 592, Guyana’s first and only official Crossfit affiliate as well as Dr. Osmond Mack and Neesa Bhagwandin of Life Gym.
The 2016 CrossFit 12-12-12 Throw Down will take place at the St. Anthony’s grounds. It will be hosted by Trinidad’s first officially affiliated CrossFit Gym, CrossFit 12-12-12.
From powerlifters, bodybuilders, track and field athletes to persons who serve in the disciplined forces, these athletes from different backgrounds of fitness will have one thing in mind, winning.
Winning will ensure a place in the Caribbean fitness history for whoever emerges victorious after the grueling series of events.
The organizers have both an Rx, Scaled & Masters Division for Males and Females and guaranteed prizes for our top three finishers.
According to McDonald, the local contingent is scheduled to depart on August 4 and 5.
