Golden Jaguars international Pernell Schultz has officially confirmed his return to local competitive football, signing officially for national giants Alpha United in the recently concluded transfer window.
The move which is viewed as a coup for the Georgetown unit, will witness the former Fruta Conquerors sharpshooter and Caledonia AIA hitman representing the ‘Hammers’ at the upcoming Stag Beer Elite League.
In an invited comment to Stabroek Sports, Schultz said that his move from Caledonia is on a Loan Transfer basis, noting “It is mainly for me to play in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) next year”.
He further added “I am excited and many of my fans are waiting to see me play at home after a long time”.
Schultz’s unexpected return to local shores from the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is the marquee signature of the transfer period following the earlier other high-profile signings by Alpha United.
Presently, the ‘Hammers’ were able to acquire the services of several players from fierce rival Fruta Conquerors, East Coast of Demerara unit, Buxton United and Bourda-based outfit, the Georgetown Football Club (GFC).
Defenders Rafael Edwards and Adrian Adonis as well as midfielder Jahaal Greaves are the Fruta Conquerors players who will be playing for Alpha United in the coming season.
On the other hand, defenders Inceford Charles and Kevin Dundas alongside versatile attacker Leo Lovell are the players leaving Buxton United for the second- placed finisher in the Elite League.
Meanwhile, the Bourda unit has lost the services of youthful strike duo Romario Welcome and Keiron Solomon.
In terms of the players making an exit from Alpha United, sources say that several u-23 players will be loaned out to lower division clubs in an effort to gain experience.
Alpha United finished in the second position of the inaugural Stag Beer Elite League which concluded on June 27th 2016 at the Leonora Sports Facility as they went down to Slingerz FC 1-0 in the clash of the champions playoff match.
