Old Fort Stallions and Saints Hockey Club clinched hard-fought wins when the Lucozade Indoor Hockey Championship continued on Tuesday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
In the feature contest, Old Fort Stallions downed the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Vintage by a 5-2 margin. Omar Hopkinson broke the deadlock for Old Fort as he netted in the second minute.
GCC fired back six minutes later to level the match as Alan Fernandes scored. The Bourda-based unit took the lead compliments of an Eric Hing 24th minute conversion. However, Old Fort Stallions equalized one minute later in the form of Jason DeSantos.
Hopkinson then pushed the Stallions into the lead with a 28th minute conversion before DeSantos made it 4-2 as he found the back of the net in the 39th minute to seal his double. The result was completed one minute later as DeSantos secured his hat-trick.
On the other hand, Saints downed Old Fort Knockers by a 4-2 margin. Dehron Wilkinson gave Old Fort the early lead in the ninth minute before Hilton Chester levelled proceedings one minute later.
Saints then took the lead as Ato Greene netted in the 26th minute. However Old Fort equalized in the form of Jael Gaskin who scored four minutes later. It was at this point where Old Fort pulled away as Greene netted his second in the 33rd minute to make it 3-2.
The win was then sealed in the 40th minute as Robert Fernandes scored. Action in the event will resume tomorrow at the same venue.
