West Ruimveldt-B and Tucville punched their respective tickets to the quarterfinal round when the Banks DIH Limited-sponsored Alex Bunbury Sports and Academics Academy u-13 football Championship continued yesterday.
Staged at the Parade ground, West Ruimveldt-B claimed a record of two wins and a draw in the seven versus seven co-ed format while Tucville secured one win and two stalemates. In their opening fixture, West Ruimveldt-B downed Grove Hi-Tech-B by a 1-0 score.
In their second match, West Ruimveldt-B squeaked past Grove Hi-Tech-A by an identical score line. West Ruimveldt-B ended their group campaign in a 2-2 drawn encounter with Tucville.
On the other hand, Tucville battled to a 1-1 result with Grove Hi-Tech-A before dismissing Grove Hi-Tech-B by a 3-0 margin. In the final contest, Grove Hi-Tech-A and Grove Hi-Tech-B played to a 0-0 result.
On Saturday the event will resume with the quarterfinal, semi-final and final round of matches at the same venue. The teams that have made it to the final eight stage are Kingston, Tigerbay, Eastville, West Ruimveldt-B, Grove, Plaisance, Wortmanville and Tucville.
Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers. Other sponsors of the event include the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Samuel Bunbury, James Paul (USA), Puran Brothers Disposal Incorporated, the Petra Organisation, Donna Shop (Fort Kingston), Frontline Hardware Store (Plaisance) and Trophy Stall.
